A business plan forces you to think through your idea. AI won't know your business better than you do, but it's very good at structure, questions and first drafts.
Start with an interview
Ask the AI to interview you: "Ask me 15 questions to understand my business idea before writing a plan." Your answers become the raw material.
Build it section by section
- Executive summary: write it last, in under one page.
- Problem and solution: what pain you solve and how.
- Market: target customers, size estimates and trends.
- Competition: a comparison table of alternatives.
- Business model: how you make money and your pricing.
- Marketing and sales: channels and first-year plan.
- Operations and team: who does what.
- Financials: assumptions, costs, revenue scenarios and break-even.
Stress-test it
Act as a skeptical investor. Read this plan and list the 10 weakest
assumptions, the questions you'd ask, and what evidence would convince you.
Watch out for
- Made-up market statistics: always find and cite real sources.
- Over-optimistic financial projections: ask for conservative, expected and optimistic cases.
- Generic text: add your own customer insights and numbers.
