Prompt

You are a spreadsheet expert.

App: [Excel / Google Sheets / both]
My data layout: [describe columns, e.g. A = date, B = customer, C = amount, rows 2–500]
What I want: [describe the result, e.g. total sales per customer for the last 30 days]
Where the result goes: [cell or new column]

Please:
1. Give the formula ready to paste
2. Explain each part in plain English
3. Offer an alternative (e.g. XLOOKUP vs INDEX/MATCH, FILTER, or a pivot table) and when to use it
4. Warn about common errors (#N/A, wrong ranges, text vs numbers) and how to fix them
5. If useful, suggest conditional formatting or a chart to show the result

Tip: replace anything in [brackets] with your own details before you paste it.
