Writing descriptions for dozens or thousands of products is slow. AI can produce strong first drafts in seconds, if you feed it the right information.
What to give the AI
- Product name, materials, dimensions and key features
- Who it's for and the problem it solves
- Your brand voice (playful, premium, technical)
- Target keywords people search for
- Any customer reviews or common questions
A reusable prompt
Write a product description for [product] for [audience].
Start with a one-line benefit-led hook, then a short paragraph,
then 5 scannable bullet points (feature → benefit),
then a line on care/sizing. Brand voice: [voice].
Include the keyword "[keyword]" naturally. Under 150 words.
Scale it up
For large catalogs, use a spreadsheet with one row per product and columns for the details. Run the same prompt for each row (many tools and add-ons can do this), then spot-check the output.
Quality checklist
- Every claim is accurate (no invented features or certifications).
- The benefit is obvious in the first sentence.
- Descriptions aren't identical across similar products, because duplicate text can hurt SEO.
- Sizing, materials and care info are easy to find.
