Suno and Udio can generate complete songs with vocals in under a minute. The quality of the result depends heavily on how you describe the style and structure.
Describe the sound precisely
Instead of "a happy song", give the model the vocabulary a producer would use: genre and sub-genre, tempo (BPM), key instruments, vocal type and mood. For example: "Indie folk, 90 BPM, fingerpicked acoustic guitar, soft banjo, warm male and female harmonies, nostalgic."
Use structure tags
Both tools understand section labels in your lyrics. Use them to shape the song:
[Intro]
[Verse 1]
[Pre-Chorus]
[Chorus]
[Bridge]
[Outro]
Write lyrics that sing well
- Keep lines short and similar in length so they fit a melody.
- Repeat a simple hook line in the chorus.
- Use concrete images ("your coffee cup still on the sink") rather than abstract words.
- Ask a chatbot to draft lyrics first, then edit them yourself.
Iterate like a producer
Generate several versions, keep the best one, then extend or remix it. Change one variable at a time (tempo, vocals or instruments) so you learn what each word does.
Rights and releases
Check each tool's terms before releasing music commercially; rights often depend on your subscription plan. Avoid naming real artists in prompts.
